First Media Art Festival in Rio de Janeiro

Cooperative Technologies, Media Art, and Networking

date
| location: July 24, 2005 | Centro Cultural Telemar, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

ImageIt was exciting to be part of the first media art festival in Rio. At the symposium I argued for a trans-national South American media art network and addressed issues in collaboration and network culture. My lecture was followed by Ricardo Rosas who contextualized the known heroes of net art with contemporary South American examples. I wrote a review of the event as it might even turn into a Bienniale. I also met Anna Bella Geiger, a Brazilian video pioneer  who told me about the early days of video in Brazil. And yes, I went jogging on the beach every morning, which was amazing.
