In the Myspace Crowd on Union Square

Cingular announced today that it’ll offer access to Myspace on cellphones. Rupert Murdoch's MySpace has 130 million user profiles, and about 51 million active users. “For an additional $2.99 per month, customers will be able to upload photos taken on cellphones, read and respond to MySpace e-mails, update blog entries and view and search for friends from their handsets.”

That’s another step in the direction of bringing online resources and especially online sociality to the city. Already today there are more and more people literally glued to their screens while walking through the streets. This will not get any better when they start to dwell in MySpace while mingling in the crowd on Union Square.
