"Temporal Public Works" An Artist Talk by Valerie Tevere

tevere_talk.jpg In this talk at the Department of Media Study Tevere will introduce some of her recentprojects: from video, performance, collaboration, and activism, to micro-radio broadcasting. Tevere’s practice has looked to the public sphere as a condition and framework forinquiry and discourse. Her recent projects permeate the urban environment as temporal public works and performances that rely upon structured yet spontaneous encounters withcity inhabitants.

Valerie Tevere received an MFA in Photography from the California Institute of the Arts.  A graduate of the Whitney Independent Study Program, Tevere is Assistant Professor for Communication at the College of Staten Island/CUNY. She lives and works in New York City and exhibits widely in the US, Europe, Chile and Mexico.
